Union high school senior Brooke Jackson signed a letter of intent
Tuesday, March 6th to play
soccer at Anderson University, becoming the second member of her family to play college soccer. Brooke's sister Ashley attended North Greenville on a
soccer scholarship.
Jackson, a 5-foot-10 forward, was an All-Region selection three times in soccer,
twice in volleyball and once in basketball. Jackson, has scored 97-goals coming
into this her senior season. The recruitment process was a bit of a surprise to
Jackson," I never thought you would have to deal with so much pressure,
it's immense. I realized very early on that I wasn't number one at the college
level and that the competition level at my position was very competitive."
Jackson, was recruited by Spartanburg Methodist, Limestone and Coker in the end
Anderson won out. "Coach Crumpton presented the best offer and she has a
winning attitude that won me over. Anderson has a great educational program and
an excellent Christian atmosphere that fit with my family upbringing," said
Jackson.
"Brooke, understands the game of soccer and with her athletic abilities she
was a great fit for Anderson University, she plays aggressively and that is on
instinct and not something that can be taught," Anderson coach Abby
Crumpton said. "She's got a great work ethic and I am looking forward to
coaching her."
Jackson's high school coach at Union, Terry Drum, was unavailable for comment.
"I really wanted to be somewhere where my family could watch me play and
where I felt I fit in," said Jackson, who has a 3.84 grade point average.
"Im glad about being there for four years, it is a great university and
coach Crumpton is a great coach, "said Jackson.
Two other players from the area will be joining Jackson at Anderson University,
Katelyn Conover and Erin Kelly. Conover and Kelly both attended Shannon Forest
Christian school.
